Thomas Wilks

Thomas (Tom) is head of assay development for Quotient’s discovery platform, driving innovation in our core technical capabilities and enabling the application of somatic genomics to new disease areas.

Before joining Quotient, Tom was a Senior Manager at Exact Sciences Innovation in Oxford, where he led a team working on new methods for detection and profiling of DNA methylation. The TAPS+ assay they developed has since been commercialised by Watchmaker Genomics, and allows simultaneous profiling of DNA variants and methylation in a single sample. Prior to Exact Sciences, Tom was a Group Leader at the University of Birmingham, leading research projects spanning oligonucleotide chemistry, nanoscale self-assembly and polymer chemistry.

Tom holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Warwick, and a MSci in natural sciences from the University of Cambridge.
